Ana
Teresa was eight years old in Ponce, Puerto Rico, when
she was chosen to be on a court honoring the Mother of God
for the May celebration. Her mother, Margarita, travelled to
San
Juan,
on the far side
of the island, to find the latest designs for her daughter's
gown. Ana was dressed to look like a miniature woman, a custom
which continued to be practiced in Panama when the artist
was there during her childhood.
