Holy Family of the Springs
• • • • •
The inspiration to create these small artpieces came when I encountered a special object from Japan, which I had never seen here in the United States. We make each one by hand and we call them "prisms". One definition of "prism" is "clarification afforded by a particular point of view." We see these art objects as offering a means of reflecting on the subjects they describe, from the perspective of Christ and his mother. Each wooden prism features a detail reproduction from one of our original watercolor paintings, mounted on a hardwood support. Our friends and family have placed prisms in prayer corners or in inspirational spots in their homes and workplaces. The reverse features a scripture verse related to the image. Each prism is signed by the artist. These are unique religious objects made using high-quality natural woods. Hardwoods used are Brazilian cherry or red oak, and vary from piece to piece. Prisms are individually handmade here at our studio and measure approximately 2 inches wide x 2 inches deep x 2.5 inches high. |
